擔任本片配樂的作曲家Rachel Portman1960年12月11日出生在英國。她的第一部電影配樂《權力》是一部非常成功的學生電影，男主人公由嶄露頭角的休·格蘭特飾演，影片配樂獲得了成功，波特曼從此走上影視配樂的道路。1988年，波特曼榮獲英國電影學會的年度青年作曲家獎，受到評論界的關注。但是，她的成名還是因為道格拉斯·麥克格蘭斯導演的影片《愛瑪》所作的配樂。Rachel Portman以此獲得奧斯卡最佳原創配樂。她也是奧斯卡歷史上第一位獲此殊榮的女性作曲家。Rachel Portman還曾兩次獲得奧斯卡提名：《The Cider House Rules》(1999年)、《Chocolat》(2000年)。

劇情簡介：

本片根據英國著名作家簡·奧斯汀(Jane Austen)同名名著《愛瑪》(Emma)改編。

愛瑪是一位出身高貴、漂亮而又性格開朗的姑娘，母親去世與姐姐的出嫁使她過早地成了家裡的女主人，她喜歡撮合別人的婚姻和戀愛，因為她認為自己是個有主見的女子。周旋於錯綜復雜的三角戀愛關系之間，愛瑪也不知究竟應該愛誰，不過，在經歷了一連串的誤會之後，愛瑪終於找到了自己愛人，她的好朋友奈特利先生，皆大歡喜，影片中的每一個人都得到了真愛。

精彩視點：

飾演女主角愛瑪的格溫妮絲·帕爾特洛當時年僅24歲（1972年出生），她漂亮、端莊、高傲的外表在近兩個小時的影片中格外引人注目，她身上典雅的貴族氣質的確是扮演愛瑪的最佳人選。這也是她第一次飾演英國人，後來她坦言第一次需要在銀幕上說英國口音時自己非常緊張，著實苦練了一番才敢開口。可以說，格溫妮絲·帕爾特洛的成功表演著實讓聰明、美麗的愛瑪形象深藏在觀眾們的心中。這部片子即成為她的成名之作。僅僅過了3年(1999年)，再次出演英國人的她憑借《莎翁情史》里出色的演出最終登上了第71屆奧斯卡影後的寶座。
